Lawn Care, Sod & Pest Control in Selma, TX
Weed control, fertilization, sod and pest control for Selma homeowners on both sides of I-35.
Selma has changed more than almost any town around it. It had fewer than 800 residents in 2000 and nearly 11,000 by 2020. Many of those homes are in newer neighborhoods where the lawn came with the house, and it hasn't always held up.
True Roots helps Selma homeowners turn thin, weedy yards into thick lawns with seasonal weed and fertilizer programs, aeration and top dressing, premium sod installation, and fire ant and lawn insect control.

Selma soil, grass & lawn challenges
Selma sits near the edge of the Hill Country, and soils change quickly across town. Some yards have shallow soil over limestone and caliche, while others sit on deeper clay. New construction often adds a thin layer of fill that makes it hard for roots to go deep.
We look at your actual soil before recommending anything. Shallow yards often need compost or topsoil added before sod. Clay yards usually benefit most from aeration and top dressing.
Watering rules in Selma
Selma runs its own water utility for many residents. Its information is on the City of Selma Utilities page. Because Selma spans three counties, some homes are served by other providers, so check your water bill to see whose drought rules apply.
Three counties, one racetrack and a lot of growth
Selma is one of the few Texas cities that spans three counties: Bexar, Guadalupe and Comal. City Hall is actually in Guadalupe County, even though most of the city is in Bexar. Retama Park, the horse racing track that opened in 1995, is one of Selma's best-known landmarks.
The town was settled by German and Polish families in the mid-1800s, and its name comes from a traditional German name. Today it's a busy suburb, but plenty of neighbors still wave from the driveway, and we're happy to be one of them.
